NASA Langley Research Center’s
Small Business Contractor of the Year Awarded to STC
Science and Technology Corporation (STC) of
Hampton, Virginia has been awarded NASA Langley Research Center’s (LaRC’s)
prestigious Small Business Contractor of the Year Award for 2007 for its
outstanding performance. Nominees were evaluated for their performance,
innovation, customer service, safety, management, cost savings, employee
development, compliance with equal opportunity regulations, mentoring of other
minority business, community involvement and community outreach. Founded in 1979
by Dr. Adarsh Deepak to support NASA LaRC programs, STC is an ISO 9001 Certified
Small Disadvantaged Business providing Science, Engineering, Technical, IT,
Electronic and Metals Fabrication, and Programmatic support to NASA, NOAA, and
DoD. STC has over 450 employees located throughout the United States.
The award is in recognition of the many complex projects completed on or ahead
of time and within budget by STC as evidenced by the numerous letters of
commendation and awards from the NASA-LaRC customer. Recent Team awards have
included: NASA Turning Goals Into Reality (TIGR); the Langley One NASA Center
Best EVA IR Camera Award; the Small Aircraft Transportation System Project
(SATS) Group Achievement Award; the Atmospheric Science Data Center Team Award
for outstanding engineering and operations of the Troposphere Emission
Spectrometer (TES) ingest and distribution systems; and the Paul F. Holloway
Technology Transfer Award. Through the Electronics and Metals Support Services
contract with LaRC Systems Engineering Directorate, STC is actively engaged in
supporting LaRC’s Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) design and fabrication of the
launch vehicle and CEV test and abort system models; and provides Center-wide
electronics, micro-electronics, wire and harness, and electronics circuit
assemblies for ground, aircraft, space flight, laboratory, and research
facilities.

Leon Co'uncil,
Tom Feigh, Eric May, Christopher Parr, and Matthew Stearman were recognized at Langley Research Center’s
2007 Center Team Awards Ceremony on May 17, 2007.
Tom Feigh was
recognized for his support to the Synthetic Vision
Operations Considerations experiment conducted in the
Integration Flight Deck simulator. This effort
evaluated advanced flight visual interface concepts and
the data collected will help develop safer weather
related aircraft landing capabilities.
Leon Council,
Eric May, Christopher Parr, and Matthew Stearman were
recognized for their support in establishing a
state-of-the-art fabrication facility at Langley. This
state-of-the-art facility will support advanced
exploration development efforts and Constellation
Program projects.
