ATMOS Careers

Join the ATMOS Mission: Advancing Earth & Atmospheric Science with NASA

About ATMOS

The Atmospheric Science Support (ATMOS) Contract supports NASA’s Earth Sciences Division in advancing our understanding of Earth’s atmosphere, climate, and weather. Through ATMOS, scientists, engineers, and specialists work together to design, develop, and operate instruments, conduct field campaigns, analyze satellite and airborne data, and create models that inform global research.

As the prime contractor, Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is proud to lead this effort. Our team provides expertise in atmospheric science, instrument engineering, data analysis, education, and outreach—ensuring NASA has the tools and talent needed to achieve its mission.

Whether through pioneering new algorithms, engaging communities in STEM, or supporting mission-critical operations, ATMOS plays a vital role in delivering science that shapes the way we understand and protect our planet.

Opportunities by Labor Category

As part of the ATMOS contract, STC is recruiting across a wide range of roles. Whether you’re a scientist, engineer, technician, or educator, there’s a place for you on this mission.

Support Scientists

Contribute to cutting-edge atmospheric research by analyzing data from NASA satellites, aircraft, and ground-based systems. Support Scientists play a key role in developing models, validating observations, and advancing climate and weather studies.

Instrument Engineers

Design, test, and maintain the instruments that power NASA’s atmospheric missions. From calibration to field deployment, Instrument Engineers ensure data quality and reliability for critical research efforts.

Scientific Programmers / Analysts

Build the software, models, and visualization tools that bring NASA’s atmospheric data to life. This role bridges science and technology, enabling new discoveries through advanced coding, data processing, and algorithm development.

Programmer AnalystS

Bridge the gap between science and technology by developing, testing, and refining software applications. Programmer Analysts support NASA research by improving data processing, model integration, and system performance.

Technical / Research Assistants

Provide hands-on support in labs, field campaigns, and mission operations. Research Assistants are essential to day-to-day success, assisting scientists and engineers with data collection, analysis, and project execution.

Education & Outreach Specialists

Help translate NASA science into inspiring educational experiences. Specialists engage students, educators, and the public through workshops, materials, and programs that broaden STEM participation and awareness of atmospheric science.
